Can we spell “increasingly irrelevant and out of touch”?

A Voter confidence poll – Oct 15 2009 asked” “Who do you trust more to handle this issue properly?”  For the first time in recent years, voters trust Republicans more than Democrats on all 10 key electoral issues regularly tracked by Rasmussen. On five of the ten issues, the difference in confidence is a double-digit: National Security 23 points; Iraq 19 points; Taxes 15 points; Economy 14 points; Abortion 12 points.

Voter Enthusiasm for Obama - Inauguration + Nine Months

The same poll also found that 73% of GOP voters nationwide believe the Republicans in Congress have lost touch with their voting base. In other words,

“The Republicans in Congress are a bunch of out of touch jerks, but we trust them a whole lot more than we trust the Democrats in Congress.”

Wow.

You’d think this would give a world of pause to the Democrats in Congress … especially the ones who want to get re-elected any time soon. But it seems as if the DNC is not paying much attention. One of 20 finalists in the Democratic National Committee’s “Health Reform Video Challenge” shows a graffiti artist smearing health care reform slogans on an American flag mural until the whole flag is blacked out.

The flag video made it to the top twenty courtesy of a panel of DNC employees who were asked to choose from among the entries “the most apt, creative, original and interesting video” with a “clarity of message concerning supporting health insurance reform.”

For the final round, the 20 finalists will be judged by DNC chief Tim Kaine; Rep. Patrick Murphy, D-Pa.; singer will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas; actress Rosario Dawson; and Seth MacFarlane, creator of the TV cartoon “Family Guy.”

At my.BarackObama.com — the DNC’s “Organizing for America” web site — it says they plan to put the winning ad on television to help push the Democrats’ healthcare plan. If this piece of flag trashing trash made it to the top 20, I can’t wait to see what they eventually pick for Numero Uno.

VIDEO: FOX News report with discussion of flag smearing video [4:52]

The news report shows the flag video, then offers a discussion with a liberal (Leonard Jacob) and a conservative (Armstrong Williams). I think the talking points and counter-arguments say a lot about the fundamental differences between the ways the Left and the Right view reality. I also got a giggle out of how the news anchor stressed that they were now going to have a “fair and balanced” discussion about the video … maybe in case Anita Dunn was watching? ::snort:: And I love the part where Williams shuts down Jacob’s attempt to interrupt him. (Leftists really need to learn some manners.)

I totally agree with Williams’ main point – i.e., that the important issue is not that this video shows a flag being desecrated, but that the DNC chose this video as a finalist in their contest. It boggles the mind that people working at the highest levels of the Democratic National Committee actually think this video not only presents a “clarity of message concerning supporting health insurance reform” but also that it deserves a shot at being THE television ad the DNC will air to help MOTIVATE people to get behind their healthcare agenda!

No We Can’t – Oct 23 2009
Only 400 people were willing to pay $500 per head to hear Obama in Boston last week. And a recent Washington Post poll shows only half of Obama voters plan to vote in next month’s gubernatorial election in Virginia, while two-thirds of McCain voters intend to vote. Obama captured a huge share of young voters last November, but the drop in young voter enthusiasm for this year’s election is even higher than the overall Obama voter drop. Last November, the youngest voter group made up 21 percent of Virginia’s electorate, but of those who plan to vote this November, only 8 percent are young people.

Prez approval highs and lows to date – Oct 21 2009
It’s not just voter apathy that is hurting Obama’s formerly enthusiastic supporters. It’s Obama himself. His current Rasmussen approval index number is at -13, the lowest he’s hit to date.

The Truth from FOX News - Oct 2009

FOX News — the “not a real news organization” news organization — is headed for its best year of all time in total viewers during both prime time and day time. And Obama’s attack dogs are helping push FOX’s numbers even higher. Nice!

CNN: The network of pathetic performances and lame excuses. Every CNN program rating is down more than 50% in both total viewers and in the all-important-for-ad-income “demo” group. [Demo = viewers with the most money to spend, i.e., those aged 25 - 54.] Yet CNN crowed: “We couldn’t be more pleased that both our networks (CNN and HLN) are now topping MSNBC in total day.” Sooooo … “Woohoo, we’re not in LAST place”?  ::snort:: What do you wanna bet these turkeys played in those lame kiddie leagues where everyone gets a trophy for showing up?

Liberal newspapers are on the same path to self-destruction as liberal cable news. Oh why oh why oh why? Could it be because the vast majority of this nation is NOT LIBERAL and NEVER HAS BEEN?
