I know we’ve moved on to guffawing over the Big Zero getting that Big Nothing of a Nobel Peace Prize, but I’ve been waiting for political cartoonists to move on to other topics before deciding which were the best of the “Olympics Go To Rio” jokes. Enjoy the attachments!

For the news challenged: October 3, 2009 – Barack and Michelle Obama went to Copenhagen to woo the International Olympic Committee (IOC) before they voted on which city would get the 2016 Olympic Games.

Observers watching Obama jet across the seas to promote Chicago’s cause reasonably concluded that it was already in the bag. Certainly, no serious leader would countenance exposing himself and his country to an easily avoidable affront. Right?

Unbelievably, it turned out that 2016 was not in the bag. In fact, Chicago was voted out in the first round. Worse, the Obama’s – famous for their speechifying – gave speeches to the IOC that were roundly criticized by anyone with a brain who actually read them.

Michelle is reported to be furious, but I’m not sure at what or with whom.
This is a disaster for Obama, plain and simple. World leaders now know with certainty that he is satisfied to conduct affairs of state by the seat of his pants and is none too bright about the ways in which he seeks to cover himself in glory.
