Breaking – Senate advances Healthcare in 60-39 vote
The Liberal Healthcare plan is one step closer to reality. On a rare Saturday night vote the Senate voted 60-39 to take the Healthcare debate to the Senate floor.
FOX News-
“Sweeping health care legislation has cleared its first hurdle in the Senate on a party-line vote.
The 60-39 vote clears the way for a historic debate after Thanksgiving on the legislation. The measure is designed to extend coverage to an estimated 31 million Americans who lack it and crack down on insurance industry practices that deny benefits.”
POLITICO-
“Senate Democrats pushed ahead with President Barack Obama’s vision of health reform Saturday night – but at the same time, exposed significant divides in the party that make it all but impossible to complete work on a plan by year’s end.
Democrats voted strictly along party lines, 60 to 39, to send an $848 billion health care bill to the floor after Thanksgiving, but not before a clutch of moderates served notice that they couldn’t back the bill in its current form.
