Here’s a rundown of my first full week back on the cases:

Celebrity news:

The daughter of Billy Joel, an aspiring musician herself, is speaking out about her December overdose of homeopathic pills. She says it was brought on by a breakup and “heartbreak-related depression.” Now, I don’t know that we need to add “heartbreak-related depression” to the DSM (diagnostic manual of mental disorders), but I can confirm from clinical and first-hand experience that the grief associated with breakups can be profound, so I applaud Ms. Joel for her plan to speak about it to young people in 2010.

It looks like criminal charges are imminent against the physician who prescribed a surgical-strength sedative to Michael Jackson. Expect involuntary manslaughter and probably some lesser charges.

Tila Tequila‘s back in the news — her “fiance,” an heiress to the Johnson & Johnson fortune was found dead at her (Ms. Johnson’s) California home, an apparent drug overdose, and there’s since been a series of bizarre “tweets” from the ever-classy Ms. Tequila disavowing any knowledge that Ms. Johnson was in danger.

Mike Tyson’s back in the news as well, another run-in with a photographer in an airport, no charges filed against either party yet. At this point, it’s sad what a train wreck this guy’s life is.

Study this:

A new study of spanking found that spanking does not necessarily turn kids neurotic or psychopathic and that many kids who were spanked have grown up to be highly-functional adults. Now, the group studied wasn’t that large, and the methodology doesn’t sound like it was that great, and I’m not advocating spanking as a disciplinary tactic of first resort, and I certainly never condone violent spanking (spanking that causes more than mild discomfort), BUT, it does on some level seem consistent with what’s occurred to me (and I think to many people who got the occasional spanking and have lived fairly successful lives) whenever previous studies have linked spanking to every horrible outcome from suicide to serial homicide!

Major case developments:

A body found wrapped in plastic in a remote area of Utah is not the body of the missing mother of two who supposedly “disappeared” while her husband took their small kids “camping” in the middle of the night. This body belongs to an as-yet-unidentified Hispanic male.

Before 2010 was even a full week old, we had a mass shooting — disgruntled former employee shooting eight former co-workers at a St. Louis factory, killing three, before turning the gun on himself. Apparently, he was upset about his retirement benefits (second time we’ve heard that in a week — the Las Vegas courthouse shooter apparently had the same motive).

An Arizona baby is missing, his mother is under arrest, and another couple have been named “persons of interest” in the baby’s disappearance. Confused? Apparently the mother didn’t want the baby’s father to have any custodial time with the baby. So, she arranged to give the baby up for adoption to the couple, but then she sent a text message to the baby’s father telling him that she’d killed the baby. Cops caught up with the mother in Florida and took her into custody, but the baby wasn’t with her. She’s since said that she gave the baby away in Texas. The couple, who are from Arizona, have spoken openly to the media and volunteered to take polygraph tests to prove that they never received the child and don’t know where he is (they sound innocent to me, but my data’s limited to soundbytes, so I certainly could be wrong). Nevertheless, cops have indicated that the couple may know more than they’ve told about what the mother’s plans were. On the bright side though, cops also say there are unspecified “indications” that the child’s probably still alive. Still confused? Sorry, stay tuned, and I’ll try to sort it out and get back to you.

The deceased body of a Playboy video model was found on fire in a Miami dumpster. Her boyfriend has been questioned by cops and apparently has been cooperative at this point, but the couple did reportedly argue on the night she was reported missing. Could be innocent, could be another Ryan Jenkins, stay tuned.

And finally tonight, this is “McNuts”:

A woman right here in the Kansas City area apparently was pretty unhappy with her McDonald’s burger — so unhappy that she threw a violent tantrum in which she did over thousands of dollars’ worth of damage to the restaurant before fleeing the scene. No word on whether she got fries with that, but there’s reportedly video surveillance footage that hopefully will lead to her arrest before she tears up another restaurant — one that I might actually be in at the time!

Have a great weekend, see you back here and on the tube next week!

Tuesday, the House of Representatives passed the Iran Refined Petroleum Sanctions Act by an overwhelming margin of 412-12. Our Congressmen have spoken, and they have sent Iran a clear message that there will be a steep economic price to pay for their illegal pursuit of nuclear weapons.

Christians United for Israel has been a leading supporter of this legislation. Through our visits to Capitol Hill and our e-mail action alerts, we have made it clear to Congress that America’s Christians support tough economic sanctions against Iran. And Congress has listened.

Congratulations to all of you who have supported CUFI in this effort. This is an important victory, and you helped;to make it happen!

Nehemiah told those helping him rebuild the walls of Jerusalem that “the work is extensive and spread out, and we are widely separated from each other along the wall. Whenever you hear the sound of the trumpet, join us there. We heard the sound of the trumpet, and we came together in action. Our efforts have been blessed.

Of course, our work is far from over. The bill moves next to the Senate. We will be watching this legislation closely and will let you know when we need your help to ensure that it passes the Senate by the widest possible margin. And we will continue to provide you with other opportunities to speak out against Iran’s threats and aggression, such as our petition to indict Iran’s President Ahmadinejad for incitement to genocide.

Thank you for your support of CUFI and Israel. Together, we are making a difference.

Blessings to you and those you love.

The Fort Hood community is suffering and this is our opportunity to pull together to help. As the families of the fallen and injured begin the long process of healing, they need our united support now more than ever. Non-profit organizations, businesses and local residents are coming together to help the Fort Hood family through this crisis and the road to recovery. You can help!

Donate here. 100% of these funds will go to help the Fort Hood community; guaranteed! We are working with local officials and organizations on base and off to provide whatever assistance is needed. As the needs change, this assistance will change.

Right now, we’re running the USO Fort Hood center and two USO Mobile Canteens 24/7 to provide support whenever it’s needed. Free Internet and phones, hot coffee and meals, transportation and hotel rooms for families staying with their wounded soldiers, grief counseling, a quiet place to take a break, a shoulder to cry on, or simply a smile and a hug: we are working closely with the garrison command to ensure that whatever is needed will be available.

These needs are great and we are assisting in any way we can. As Robin Crouse, USO Fort Hood’s director said, “I’m feeding my soldiers that I feel are on sacred ground right now. We’re not gone until they tell us to be gone.”

Help us by donating now. Remember, every single dollar raised will support the Fort Hood community.

Thank you for joining us in this cause

Scott Roeder, the accused murderer of late term Wichita abortionist George Tiller, admitted killing Tiller earlier this week in an interview with the Associated Press.

Roeder told the AP that the shooting was provoked by “the fact [that] preborn children’s lives were in imminent danger.” He plans to plea “not-guilty” and hopes to use this “necessity defense” at trial.

Roeder’s public defenders, however, were quick to disown this strategy if for no other reason that the Kansas Supreme Court rejected a similar defense in an abortion clinic trespassing case in 1993.

Indeed, were Tiller legally performing a state sanctioned service, however malevolent, it is hard to imagine that Roeder’s hoped-for strategy would have much of a chance.

In a similar vein, if the accused Fort Hood shooter, Nidal Malik Hasan, were to argue that an “unjust” war in Afghanistan provoked his murderous rampage, he would have little hope of acquittal.

Hasan’s chances would likely improve, however, had he gone to the base to shoot those specific soldiers who were torturing captives to death and escaping justice thanks to a corrupt Army judicial system.

Were the courts to deny Hasan a “necessity defense” in a case like that the media would howl to the heavens and well they ought.

As has been painfully evident, the media have expressed more support for inconvenienced terrorists than they have for the exterminated unborn, even those capable of living outside the womb.

Consequently, the media have no use for Scott Roeder save as a way of clubbing Christians in general and pro-lifers in particular. Already, left-leaning bloggers are equating Hasan’s actions with Roeder’s and calling it all square.

(Word to the left: Timothy McVeigh was not a “right-leaning white Christian.” He was an anti-war atheist, whose mantra was “Science is my religion.”)

Say what one will, Roeder was not a terrorist. There was nothing random about his actions. Nor was Tiller an innocent victim. Far from it.

In the scenario above, Tiller was the torturer who gamed the system to escape justice. He specialized in late term abortions and performed them for any reason whatsoever.

As the annual reports from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment reports show in ten years not one single late term abortion that Tiller performed saved the life of the mother. This life-saving hokum was pure liberal media myth.

The reports also show that of the 192 late term abortions on healthy babies performed in 2008—98 percent on women from out of state–none were performed for a legitimate “medical emergency.”

Every single late-term abortion involved a temporary mental health diagnosis, made, of course, by Tiller, who is no one’s idea of a mental health expert.

Dr. Paul McHugh is one such expert. He served as Chair of the School of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University for 25 years.

After reviewing Tiller’s files, McHugh concluded that not one of them showed anything close to the potential “severe and irreversible impairment” to the mother needed to justify a late-term abortion under Kansas law.

Dr. McHugh taped a video discussing the files that can be accessed on youtube:

Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mviFMpy_sBU

McHugh reveals that Tiller would perform a late-term abortion for reasons such as a mother not wanting to hire a babysitter when she attended rock concerts or a mother not wanting to miss the prom or the rodeo circuit.

Tiller had used the revenue from these abortions—he boasted of having aborted 60,000 “fetuses over 24 weeks”—to buy off the state’s “moderate” establishment, including the sitting governor.

Over the years, he pumped literally millions into the Kansas political system to accomplish this. In 2006, his money helped amplify the media cheerleading to unseat intrepid Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline.

Kline had had the nerve to charge Tiller with taking the life of fifteen fully viable unborn babies whose mothers were equally healthy in utter disregard of Kansas law. Kline had to go.

After Kline’s defeat, but while these charges were still under review, Kansas Governor –and now HHS Secretary—Kathleen Sebelius honored Tiller and his staff at an elegant but extremely discreet soiree at Cedar Crest, the governor’s Mansion.

Among the more revealing of the photos taken at the event is one of Sebelius holding a T-Shirt presented to her by Tiller, which reads, “Trifecta 2006: Sebelius, Parkinson, Morrison.”

In the photo, Sebelius points at Tiller as if to acknowledge his contribution to her re-election and the booting of that troublesome Kline.

To no one’s great surprise, the new AG dropped the charges Kline had brought against Tiller. And a subsequent Democratic AG pursued a watered-down case against Tiller half-heartedly.

The jurors in the 2009 Tiller trial did not learn any more about Tiller’s illegal torture and murder of fully viable babies than the jurors in the Roeder trial are likely to.

Had Tiller gotten the trial he deserved, he would be where Roeder is today, but at least he would be alive.

November is National Military Family Appreciation month. Nobody works harder at protecting American freedom than our brave men and women who deploy to combat zones, those who stay behind to guard the fort, and the brave spouses that stay behind guarding the home.

Military spouses, which have their own day early in the year, have to learn to be alone for months at a time just waiting for the day they can run towards their spouse across the glistening tarmac. They prepare just as much as any soldier does and life in the military is a never ending cycle where the only constant is change.

Mourning at Fort Hood - LM Otero/AP

Families are supported by Readiness Programs that prepare them for deployments. They learn to be supportive, faithful to the work of the Nation, and stand ready and prepared for any outcome. The Army runs one of the strongest and most structured Family Readiness Programs out of all the services and the spouses are resilient because of the success of the Programs. But nothing could have prepared the families of those who lost their lives under the fire of Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan at Ft. Hood on November 5th, 2009.

Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, 39, is responsible for killing 13 people and injuring over 30. As a psychiatrist, Maj. Hasan helped American soldiers deal with the pressures of military and home life. One psychiatrist who had worked with Maj. Hasan, who requested to remain anonymous, told NPR that “he was being treated as a Muslim by the Army — an Arab — and not as an American. He felt he was being discriminated against.” Maj. Hasan was also dreading a future deployment to Afghanistan or Iraq. If he was torn about deploying because he felt he had an affinity to one of those nations, then he was never American to begin with.

Those that lost their lives in the violence were “Americans of every race, faith and station. They were Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus and nonbelievers,” according to NPR. They are:

* Capt. John P. Gaffaney, 54, of San Diego, Calif., assigned to the 1908th Medical Company, Independence, Mo.

* Capt. Russell Seager, 41, of Racine, Wis., assigned to the 467th Medical Company, Madison, Wis.

* Staff Sgt. Justin Decrow, 32, of Plymouth, Ind., assigned to the 16th Signal Company, Fort Hood, Texas.

* Sgt. Amy Krueger, 29, of Kiel, Wis., assigned to the 467th Medical Company, Madison, Wis.

* Spc. Jason Hunt, 22, of Tillman, Okla., assigned to the 1st Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas.

* Spc. Frederick Greene, 29, of Mountain City, Tenn., assigned to the 16th Signal Company, Fort Hood, Texas.

* Pfc. Aaron Nemelka, 19, of West Jordan, Utah., assigned to the 510th Engineer Company, 20th Engineer Battalion, Fort Hood, Texas.

* Pfc. Michael Pearson, 22, of Bolinbrook, Ill., assigned to the 510th Engineer Company, 20th Engineer Battalion, Fort Hood, Texas.

* Spc. Kham Xiong, 23, of St. Paul, Minn., assigned to the 510th Engineer Company, 20th Engineer Battalion, Fort Hood, Texas.

* Pvt. Francheska Velez, 21, of Chicago, Ill., assigned to the 15th Combat Support Battalion, Fort Hood, Texas.

* Mr. Michael Cahill of Cameron, Texas., a civilian employee on Fort Hood.

It is the worst kind of injustice for the families and the Nation to take the life of a soldier who is ready to run into battle. According to National Post, Maj. Hasan has been taken of the respirator, but is still in intensive care.

Public donations can be made to the families involved in the shooting by going to the official Ft. Hood Homepage and clicking on the “Public Donations to Help Families of Victims” link.

Here’s a rapid rundown on cases in the news this week:

The body of a missing nine-year-old girl has been found in central Missouri, and a 15-year-old (boy, I predict, but authorities haven’t said yet) is in custody, charged with first-degree murder. The judge in the case will decide next week whether to charge the suspect as an adult (multiple factors go into that determination — more on that in my blog post dated 5/1/09), but in any case, the death penalty will be off the table (the Supreme Court has ruled that it’s “cruel and unusual punishment” to execute convicts who were under the age of 18 at the time of their crimes — more on that in my blog posts dated 3/8/07 and 8/9/07).

America’s Most Wanted host John Walsh has stated his belief that the perpetrator in the kidnapping and murder of little Somer Thompson in Florida is a “retired” sexual predator who “came out of retirement” to commit this latest horrific crime. I admire Walsh, but I think he’s jumping the gun and exceeding his expertise on this one. I’ve seen nothing to suggest that the perpetrator in this case is some kind of experienced “expert,” nor have I seen anything to suggest that the same person committed similar crimes years ago and didn’t commit any in between then and now (even if the “m.o.” in this case is similar to the “m.o.” in some old, cold cases, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the same perpetrator, nor does it mean, if it is the same perpetrator, that other, perhaps yet-undiscovered crimes haven’t been committed in the intervening years).

What’s with these Ivy League labs? Just weeks after Annie Le was murdered in a lab at Yale, we’re learning that six Harvard researchers were hospitalized when they developed symptoms like dizziness and rapid heart rate that were traced to the coffee in their lab having been laced with the chemical sodium azide. I suspect that this was no accident and no joke — that someone in that lab, probably someone with narcissistic traits who felt “slighted” somehow by the people in that lab did it intentionally. I’d say there’s a dangerous individual with access to dangerous chemicals, which makes this case a bigger deal than it might seem at first, given that no one died or was seriously/permanently injured.

Study this: A new study revealed that 1/3 of parents still don’t have a clue what “sexting” is, let alone how it could harm their teens. If you or someone you love is one of those “clueless” parents, check out or send them my column The “Sext” Generation.

I always enjoy the opportunity to join the panel on FoxNews.com Strategy Room. This being the week of its first year anniversary of that program made it all the more special. On the show we covered many things, including why certain states prosper and why others do not. I knew exactly where the conversation was going when the Host,Eric Bolling started discussing the decline of Detroit and other historically industrialized cities and out of no where he started naming states (mainly in the South) that seem to be enjoying economic growth. He asked, “what do these have in common?’ The answer was simple; they are Right to Work states.

Right to Work states allow employees to choose whether they join a union, while closed union shop states make union membership compulsory. How significant of an impact does such have an economy? A report by Steve Moore of the Wall Street Journal and best selling author Arthur Laffer, published by the American Legislative Council, indicates that it is huge. The authors do a thorough investigation of why the ten richest states have prospered and why the ten poorest have struggled. The report covers ten years, 1997 to 2007.

The states that have enjoyed the most prosperity over the last decade, according to the study, are Utah, Colorado, Arizona, Virginia, South Dakota, Wyoming, Nevada, Georgia, Tennessee, and Texas. On average, these ten states witnessed an 85.1% increase in the states’ gross state product growth, an 87.9% increase in personal income growth, a 55.9% increase in personal income per capita growth, and a 20.4 percent increase in population growth.

On the opposite end of the economic spectrum you have Hawaii, Pennsylvania, California, Illinois, Ohio, New Jersey, Maine, Rhode Island, Vermont, and New York. These unfortunate states have only seen a 59.3% increase in the states’ gross state product growth, a 60.7% increase in personal income growth, a 52.3% increase in personal income per capita growth, and a mere 4.4 percent increase in population growth.

There are several similar characteristics between the rich and poor states in one area in particular, which is in the policies they pursue. For example, all but one of the winners are Right to Work states (Colorado). Meanwhile, all of the losers are under force unionism. When unions (and their higher benefits, wages, and other labor expenditures) are a fixed cost of doing business, those states are simply less attractive, which leads businesses to businesses moving to more business friendly states.

It doesn’t stop with unions. The ten losers are noted for having excessively high taxes on businesses and high income earners. When these income earners feel such pressure, they know they cannot always “fight” the policies effectively, so they take “flight” to states that are friendlier to business and wealth creation. Furthermore, the losers are known for more excessive regulations than the winners, another cost in time and money in building a business. Finally, these losers often have crippling licensure laws that undermine entrepreneurship and economic activity. Laffer and Moore’s study goes much further by examining several “principles” of effective taxation and shows huge disparity between the winners and losers. The bottom line is that some states create an environment that is more business friendly. As a result, those states enjoy lower unemployment and higher economic growth.

The results of the states that ignore the ability of businesses and the affluent to flee such policies have led to a huge decline in both prosperity and even population growth in the “loser” states. The study should be read by policy makers, business owners, and individuals who want to live in states of prosperity and not poverty.

Kevin Price is Host of the Price of Business, the longest running show on AM 650 (M-F at 11 am) in Houston, Texas and on AOL Radio.

The little girl’s shoulders shook as she tearfully hugged her big brother good bye. The mother stood by with her hand on her son’s shoulder, painfully dealing with the transition from high school student to college freshman. The scene was touching and brought back personal memories of just a year ago as I too experienced this emotional release in 2008 when my daughter entered the university for the first time. Yet there was peace knowing that the college she was attending was built on this mission statement: “Biblically centered education, scholarship and service- equipping men and women in mind and character to impact the world for the Lord Jesus Christ.”

The first institution in America was founded in 1636 by a Puritan named John Harvard. He left his library of 400 books to found a “seminary” with this understanding, “The maine end of [a student's] life and studies is to know God and Jesus Christ, which is eternal life, John 17:3, and therefore to lay Christ in the bottome, as the only foundation of all found knowledge and learning.” (Samuel, Eliot Morison, The Founding of Harvard College). Today the mission statement for Harvard is vastly different. “In brief: Harvard strives to create knowledge, to open the minds of students to that knowledge, and to enable students to take best advantage of their educational opportunities.” Harvard no longer espouses that the study of God and Jesus Christ is the foundation of all found knowledge and learning, but rather there is a denial of God and the belief that humans can create knowledge. Education has devolved from its superior beginnings in America when the Progressive agenda took root, walking away from the classical preparation that made the true pursuit of knowledge and truth foundational and moving toward an education of experience, resulting in an incremental “dumbing down” of Americans dating back to the early twentieth century.

Parents today may send their children off to prestigious learning institution, feeling secure in the campus security, the dorm life, and the extra-curricular activities these schools may offer, but because parent’s have also been indoctrinated into a Progressive mentality, it doesn’t occur to them to be wary of the propaganda taught at most universities. Glenn Beck points out in Common Sense that the educational system has “fallen prey to political patronage and the Progressive agenda.” Beck also quoted Woodrow Wilson, once president of Princeton University, (another one of America’s first colleges founded to meet the needs of training ministers) who said, “Our problem is not merely to help the students to adjust themselves to world life….[but]to make them as unlike their fathers as we can.” Beck, Glenn Common Sense, Pg 91.

When did the fathers of our country become unworthy of study and emulation? Who should we fashioning our lives after, if it is not the great men and women in history, our American history? Who should children view as worthwhile role models if it is not their fathers? When did the colleges and universities become enemies of the parent instead of a support system to help the child to succeed in becoming an adult?

According to Gary Amos and Richard Gardiner in their book Never Before in History, the standard for graduation in the 1700s from Harvard was as follows:

17. Every student who, on trial, shall be able to translate from the original Latin text, and logically to explain the Holy Scriptures, both of the Old and New Testament, and shall also be thoroughly acquainted with the principles of natural and moral philosophy, and shall be blameless in life and character, and approved at public examination by the President and the Fellows of the College, may receive the first degree.

The Masters Degree required the following:

18. Every scholar who has maintained a good standing, and exhibited a written synopsis of logic, natural and moral philosophy, arithmetic and astronomy, and shall be prepared to defend a proposition or thesis; shall also be versed in the original languages, as aforesaid; and who carries with him a reputation for upright character and diligence in study, and shall pass successfully a public examination, shall be admitted to the second, or Master’s degree.

Today according to the Harvard website, graduation requirements to earn the bachelor’s degree, a student must complete 128 credits and maintain good academic standing (2.0 GPA). At least 64 credits must be completed at Harvard University. A student must fulfill all of his or her requirements and be in good academic and financial standing with Harvard University, with no disciplinary or administrative procedures pending, to graduate and participate in May Commencement. Each school of study of course has differing requirements for its emphasis, but it is interesting to note the very different tone that one finds today at one of America’s most renowned universities and the requirements of two hundred years ago.

Most interesting is the requirement that the student must be upright and blameless in life and character and having a thorough knowledge of the Bible in the 1700’s Laws and Statutes for Students of Harvard College. One would be hard pressed to find such a high standard for graduation from any school today, let alone America’s oldest institution of higher learning: Harvard University. Academic standards are set without regard for the character of the individual and no where is the Bible seen as an indispensable factor for a well rounded scholar.

Our lower institutions of learning have an even tougher climb to reach the excellence of early American schools. The New England Primer was the text book that emphasized both Christian character and literacy and classical education was a standard for many colonial Americans, along with apprenticeships to provide skilled training.

Today’s classrooms would not be allowed to have a New England Primer, as it would offend those who believe in the separation of church and state. The Primer utilized Bible stories to help teach the alphabet and the Westminster Catechism was also part of the text. Samuel Eliot Morison said, “American revolutionary leaders, both North and South, Madison, Wythe, and Jefferson, the Rutledges and Pinckneys, as well as Hamilton, Jay, and the Adamses, and Trumbulls, could never have rendered their distinguished services to the young republic without that classical leaning which is denied to most Americans today. (Samuel Eliot Morison, Three Centuries of Harvard (Cambridge, Mass.: Harvard University Press, 1936), 136.

How do we expect our children to excel in grade school, middle school and high school when the standards of education are at an all time low? When Progressivism has a choke hold on real education, when indoctrination is the ring of the school bell, and the diploma of good citizenship is given to a student who can spew out the correct responses on a test that measures the ability to think green, distrust the government and treat people equally. We are not raising an army of brilliant thinkers as the founding fathers were, but rather a generation whose work ethic, morality and character are easy to mold by those who believe they know what is best. Yet this “knowing” leadership also attended the schools of Progressive instruction and they too are not in the same league as the excellent scholars, thinkers and statesmen that the Founders were.

How can we as parents pursue an education for our children, that reflects excellence and strives for a standard that few achieve, a standard that early Americans set and achieved? We as parents do know what is best for our children, even in regard to education, though the local school district and the Obama Administration would say the contrary. American schools are failing our children not because students are not learning to read, write and do basic math, but because the standard of excellence, the standard of “blameless in life and character” is not the key element in a child’s life. When we take away the foundation of Biblical scholarship and morality and replace it with an ever changing ideology of humanism, then the goal becomes only to clone robots who espouse the philosophy of the powers that be. When high moral character and biblical ethics are separated from the education of a child, only the outer shell will appear polished. Test scores may reflect understanding and in academics that child may find success, but the inner person will struggle for meaning that was never addressed in this pursuit of knowledge.

A wholly educated person is educated in mind, body and spirit and is a danger to the Progressive agenda, because that person has the ability to reason, to consider ethical ramifications and to speak against the wrongs that the government is foisting on the “tired and huddled masses”. This is why education is the most crucial weapon that we have as parents and that the Progressive desire to hold in complete control. There is recognition that if the masses can be educated just enough to know how to follow their “teachers”, then an army of “yes men” can be established. This is why parents must do their due diligence to be connected with their child through every part of schooling, even the choosing of the university. This too should becomes a family affair as the family releases the life, mind, and spirit of their child to an institution that will either reinforce the values of the family unit and build it into a stronger entity, or will do the work of a cancer and slowly destroy the value system of that individual, creating in that student an individual who questions the loving authority that nurtured it and instilling a group think mentality focused on experience and skills needed for a future society.

The future of America is in the children that we raise. Mediocre is not an option. Parents must become more deeply engaged in the philosophy of the educational process, as well as breaking the chains that have imprisoned our minds as well. We must re-educate ourselves, recognizing that we all have had a dose of Progressive indoctrination, and we must return to the educational pattern that helped establish this nation. Those who rule on high in Washington are products of this century old heist of the American mind. Like the old proverb, they too have been the frog, slowing dying in an ever warming pot of water. But the fire can be extinguished and the death of brilliant minds stopped. It is not too late to stop the march of this Statist ideology but it must become personal and we must return to the pursuit of truth that Harvard was built on at its inception: “The maine end of [a student's] life and studies is to know God and Jesus Christ, which is eternal life, John 17:3, and therefore to lay Christ in the bottome, as the only foundation of all found knowledge and learning.” Without this foundation, we may truly say, the mind is a terrible thing to waste.
